Located on Washington's Olympic Peninsula, this UNESCO World Heritage Site is one of the most biologically diverse national parks in North America, offering photographers an extraordinary combination of rugged coastlines, ancient temperate rainforests, alpine mountains, cascading waterfalls, and abundant wildlife—all within a single destination.
Few places on Earth offer such an incredible diversity of landscapes. From dramatic sea stacks rising out of the Pacific Ocean to emerald forests draped in moss and panoramic mountain vistas stretching to the horizon, Olympic National Park is a dream location for landscape, nature, travel, and wildlife photography.
Our journey begins high above the clouds at Hurricane Ridge, where the Olympic Mountains unfold in endless layers of blue and lavender. As sunrise paints the peaks with soft pastel light, morning fog drifts through the valleys below, creating atmospheric scenes that change by the minute. Wildflower meadows burst into colour during the summer months, while Black-tailed Deer often wander through the alpine landscape, providing unforgettable photographic opportunities.
Descending into the legendary rainforests, you'll discover one of the greenest places on the planet. The world-famous Hoh Rain Forest is a living cathedral where ancient Sitka Spruce, Western Hemlock, and towering Big Leaf Maples are cloaked in vibrant mosses that hang like emerald tapestries. Walking through the iconic Hall of Mosses feels like stepping into another world—a magical landscape where every fallen log, twisted branch, and shaft of filtered light invites creative photography.
Nearby, the enchanting Sol Duc Valley offers crystal-clear rivers, old-growth forests, and spectacular waterfalls surrounded by giant Sitka Spruce. Quiet forest trails wind through lush vegetation where every bend reveals another intimate composition of ferns, moss-covered rocks, rushing streams, and delicate wildflowers. It is a place where patience is rewarded, and every photograph tells the story of an ancient ecosystem.
Further south, the beautiful Quinault Rain Forest reveals yet another side of Olympic National Park. Moss-covered Big Leaf Maples, endless carpets of ferns, pristine lakes, and rushing rivers create a landscape rich in texture, depth, and mood. Roosevelt Elk frequently roam these forests, while salmonberries, towering cedars, and crystal-clear streams add to the area's remarkable biodiversity.
The Pacific coastline provides an entirely different photographic experience. Here, powerful winter storms have sculpted one of the most dramatic shorelines in North America. Massive driftwood logs, weathered by decades of ocean tides, rest along beaches like natural sculptures. At low tide, tide pools reveal a fascinating underwater world filled with colourful marine life, while reflective wet sand transforms sunrise and sunset into breathtaking works of art.
Iconic locations such as Ruby Beach, Rialto Beach, and Second Beach offer endless opportunities to photograph sea stacks, crashing surf, dramatic skies, and long-exposure seascapes. Whether capturing golden sunrise light, moody coastal fog, or vibrant Pacific sunsets, every visit offers a completely unique experience shaped by the rhythms of nature.

ITINERARY
DAY 1
SEATTLE
Arrive at Seattle-Tacoma airport and check into the hotel, which is located near the terminal. Check-in will be after 3:00 pm
DAY 2 & 3
SEATTLE & PORT ANGELES
Start the day with our operations meeting, where the group meets and goes over how we are going to work over the next few days. Mid-morning, we depart for Port Angeles, our first base of operations. This coastal town serves as a fishing port as well as the departure point for ferries crossing to Canada.
In the afternoon, we photograph the shores of Lake Crescent, followed by a hike to Marymere Falls. We end the day shooting the beautiful trees at the water’s edge on Fairmore.
DAY 4
HURRICANE RIDGE, DEER PARK AND SALT CREEK
Early morning drive to Hurricane Ridge to capture sunrise over the Olympic Mountains. Fog rolls in and out of this alpine landscape, providing a great background for images. Right after breakfast, we head out to Deer Park to shoot more mountain scenery.
After lunch, it is time for our first one-on-one, where we discuss the images shot during the first two days. In the afternoon, we head out to our first coastal shoot. Salt Creek is the tide pool capital of the world; here you will find all sorts of marine creatures to photograph as we wait for the sun to set.
DAY 5
SOL DUC, RIALTO BEACH & SECOND BEACH
Rise and shine, time to head out to the Sol Duc rainforest, where gigantic spruces line up the path to the waterfall. This is macro heaven as every corner is covered in wildflowers.
After breakfast, we drive to La Push and Rialto beaches, where giant logs adorn the shore, providing one unique setting for image making.
After lunch is time for our second one-on-one. We will have an early dinner, after which we will wait for the sun to go down on one of the most photogenic beaches in the park. At low tide, the Second Beach glows with beautiful reflections and amazing sea stacks fire up in the afternoon light.
DAY 6
HALL OF MOSSES, KALALOCH & FORKS
After an early check-out, we head out to the HOH rainforest, home of the Hall of Mosses. Here, the big maple trees are covered in Cattail Moss, glowing in the faint pre-dawn light. The paths are lined up with thousands of ferns. This is one amazing site for moody shots.
After breakfast, we explore the coast in Kalaloch. In the early afternoon, we arrive in Forks, our home for the next couple of days.
After another one-on-one and an early dinner, we depart for Ruby Beach to photograph the sunset at low tide. There are magnificent reflections and plenty of opportunities for panoramic and slow shutter images
DAY 7
SEDOND BEACH, QUINAULT & MAPLE GLADE TRAIL
Ready up for a pre-dawn hike to Second Beach again. We already saw this place glow in the afternoon, now we photograph it as the early morning light caresses the sea stacks and tide pools. After breakfast, it is time to head south to Quinault, the site of the lake and forest of the same name.
In the late afternoon, we shoot Maple Glade Trail. This is one of the most dramatic landscapes of the trip. Gigantic trees entirely covered in moss guard this sacred ground. After the hike, we drive the amazing north shore road to capture some more forest scenery with the lake as the background.
Dinner by the lake’s shore follows.
DAY 8
QUINAULT & SEATTLE
Early morning hike to the Gatton Creek falls, followed by a short drive to photograph the magnificent Merriman Falls.
After breakfast and a couple of hours of rest, we head back to Seattle. You will have a free afternoon to explore the city on your own.
DAY 9
SEATTLE
Check out before noon, and time to head home
