THE SEA OF GRASS

 

 

THE SEA OF GRASS, that muggy, inhospitable, dangerous and almost un-photographable ecosystem called the Everglades National Park and Big Cypress National Preserve.

For me it has extremely difficult to get good images out of this surreal environment, it is bright, hot, with dense vegetation, very few features that can be shot as panoramas, snakes and alligators galore and a myriad of not-so-friendly critters.

I have been photographing this swamp for more than 20 years as it is close to home. I have spent many hours in its dense vegetation, walking in the water, under thunder massive storms and braving the summer heat and mosquitoes, to try to extract some creative images.
